They are found at the end of each chapter or part. Harrington uses them to "show" us information after he has already taught thescenarios grab us by the wallet and place us atop the championship felt. The funniest, and most unique, thing about his examples is that Harrington observes the hands from a vantage point high above thetells us what should be done and then often has to shake his head when the player analyzed does the complete opposite. Regardless of the quality of the amateurs, Harrington follows along and makes the best of their bad situations while being careful to point out how much trouble would have been avoided had the right play been initiated in the firston, "Action" Dan makes clear that he will be using examples from online play (and then does so extensively) which is extremely helpful for the majority of us who do not reside near one of the gamblingof the scenarios come from the commonly-played online single table satellites. Harrington, rather surprisingly, knows all about the pitfalls and characteristics of internet poker, and, time after time, illustrates how a particular play succeeds in a brick and motor card room but not on the web-and viceHarrington was the perfect person to write a book likethan Texas Dolly, he has the most gravitas out of any of the pokerwon two bracelets in 1995, and finished at the final table two years running (2003 and 2004). Practically nobody else has the combination of experience and contemporary success as he, and his intelligence stands out like a flush in this initial volume.

Harrington helps, at least a littlecourse, this book is based aroung Harrington's tight style, and a lot of the analysis here flies in the face of aggressive poker , Dan does have tons of credibility in the poker world, conservative orI really like about this book is that it does a great job of highlighting some common situations that you run into all the time, like calling all-ins and so on. One of the prior reviews noted there wasn't much in the way of new material, but that's just not true at all.

But somehow, just somehow, this man has become one of the best-known poker players in thewas born and raised in Boston, and still supports his local team by sporting an all-green baseball cap with the Red Sox name embroidered acrossexcelled at all types of games as a child, and played chess, backgammon and poker while attending Suffolk University before continuing on at Suffolk Law School in the Juris Doctorgraduating, he spent nearly 10 years working in Boston as a bankruptcy lawyer, but the work made him weary - he felt stagnant and unfulfilled, and like the poker player he would become, Dan knew when to fold a losing1980 he moved south, to Philadelphia, and began buying and selling stocks. Approaching the final table of the WSOP main event, Jay Heimowitz was knocked out in 11th place.
Or perhaps they are all just extraordinary players. Bob Ciaffone, who outlasted them all and finished third that year adds, "Dan (who was a onetime roommate) is one of the smartest people I've ever met, plus a real nice guy; and even then Howard was excellent."Dan continued playing poker and moved to California in 1989.He occasionally played in tournaments, but his list of entries is much smaller than any other well-known poker ps, because he really isn't a professional player. Harrington runs Anchor Loans from his Santa Monica offices and still invests in real estate and the stock market, and that explains why he played so little for a number ofthe WSOP in 1995, Dan obtained one of his goals - winning a goldwin in the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament game him a quarter-million dollars to play with, so he entered the $10,000 main event again.
