High Stakes Poker is a cash game poker television program broadcast by the cable television network GSN in the Unitedpoker variant played on the show is no limit Texas hold 'em.

The first season of High Stakes Poker, taped at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, began broadcast in January 2006 and consisted of 13second season, taped at The Palms and consisting of 16 episodes, premiered on Monday, June 5, 2006. The third season, consisting of 13 episodes, was taped at the South Point Hotel & Casino and premiered on Monday, January 15, 2007.

On April 2, 2007 GSN announced that High Stakes Poker was returning for a fourthwith the third season, the episodes were taped at the South Point Hotel & Casino. Taping was completed in May, 2007, and the season premiered on August 27, 2007.

When it first aired, High Stakes Poker was unique among televised poker series because it did not take place in a tournament ad, the program showed a high stakes ring game.

December 15, 2005Earl Burton The Game Show Network has been one of the better stops for specialty television poker tournaments throughout 2005.The 'Poker Royale' series has featured many of the biggest names in the poker world, be it in a serious competition between professionals (such as the 'Battle Of The Ages' or the now-defunct WPPA Championship) or a more entertaining setting (professionals going up against comedians and actors).Come 2006 however, GSN will be making a move towards the more "traditional" and higher stakes poker that constitutes the gamemany casinos, it isn't in the high profile tournaments that players make theiris through grinding it out in the ring games, whether at the lowest limit levels or in high stakes mixed games oris recognizing this by bringing the first "ring game" action to television with "High Stakes Poker" set to debut on the network come January 16th, 2006 at 9PM and continue over the next three months (a thirteen episode run).The Game Show Network isn't hesitating on bringing the biggest names in the game today for this one!
